37th Annual Community Messiah Sing!

Featuring the Christmas music of G.F. Handel’s Messiah and the Hallelujah Chorus. Led by G. Roberts Kolb and accompanied by Sar Shalom-Strong. In celebration of our parish’s 200th anniversary, this year’s offering will feature soloists who have previously performed as soloists at Messiah Sings hosted by Zion. The program is free and a reception, with free will donations accepted, follows in the parish hall.

COMMUNITY BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS

Community Blessing of the Animals led by Rev. Edwina Landry and sponsored by the combined congregations of Zion Episcopal Church and First Presbyterian Church. October 4, 2025 at 3 pm, rain or shine, in Zion’s Churchyard. Event will be moved inside if raining. We will be collecting donations of pet food and / or kitty litter to be donated to the Rome Humane Society. This is a free event and all are welcomed -- please leash all dogs! All pets (real or stuffed) are invited, or even pictures of your pet that has passed on! Hope to see you there!!!

Strawberry Shortcake Festival

Stop at Zion Church after Rome’s Honor America Days parade for our world famous strawberry shortcake. Made with local, hand-picked strawberries, fresh-baked shortcake, and lots of home-made whipped cream dolloped on top. There will also be cool drinks to wash it all down.  While there, please take a look at our basket raffles and bake sale items. This year’s raffle will features items to help celebrate Zion’s 200th anniversary as a parish in Rome, NY — you won’t want to miss out! The Herbert Geller Memorial Scholarship Concerts presents a special performance by Rick Montalbano and Julie Falatico at Zion Episcopal Church, as a tie-in to Zion’s yearlong 200th anniversary celebration. This free event is part of an ongoing concert series honoring the legacy of Herb Geller, a beloved former band director at Rome Free Academy and Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School, by presenting community concerts and supporting high school seniors pursuing music majors in college. Join us for an afternoon of musical delight as we continue the year-long celebration of Zion’s 200th anniversary! This event will feature a hymn sing led by Christian Clough, Canon for Liturgy & Music at St. Luke’s Cathedral in Portland, Maine. Mr. Clough will also accompany on Zion’s Baldwin Concert Grand Piano and Noack Opus 79 pipe organ. A reception will follow, allowing attendees to meet and greet our special guest musician.
