Good Friday Tenebrae Service

Please join us for a joint Zion Episcopal Church and First Presbyterian Church Good Friday Tenebrae service. Tenebrae is a meditative worship service that marks the death of Jesus through a gradual extinguishing of candles. Scripture readings highlighting the Passion story, music, and prayer accompany the light reduction, ending in total darkness and silence to symbolize Christ's death and burial.

The Great Vigil of Easter

Join us Saturday evening as we celebrate the Triumph of Light during the Utica-Rome District Easter Vigil Service. The service begins with the lighting of the Pascal Candle in Zion’s courtyard, then processes by candlelight into the sanctuary for baptisms and the celebration of Christ’s resurrection.

37th Annual Community Messiah Sing!

Featuring the Christmas music of G.F. Handel’s Messiah and the Hallelujah Chorus. Led by G. Roberts Kolb and accompanied by Sar Shalom-Strong. In celebration of our parish’s 200th anniversary, this year’s offering will feature soloists who have previously performed as soloists at Messiah Sings hosted by Zion. The program is free and a reception, with free will donations accepted, follows in the parish hall.

First Presbyterian Christmas Candlelight Service

First Presbyterian Church of Rome's annual musical celebration of Advent will take place in Zion Episcopal Church's beautiful sanctuary (140 W. Liberty St.) on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 4PM. The service will feature Adult and Youth Tone Chimes Choirs, as well as a 30-voice Senior Choir. The Christmas cantata "Love Came Down at Christmas", directed by Kimberly Nethaway and accompanied by organist/pianist Tina Toglia, will be the centerpiece of the afternoon. All are welcome to join us as we come together to celebrate the love that entered the world on that first, glorious Christmas night.
